WATERVILLE — The City Council and the Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday to review a proposed $37.5 million school and municipal budget for 2013-14.

The meeting will be followed by a council meeting at 7 p.m.

The proposed municipal budget is $17.1 million, which represents an $874 decrease from the current budget. The proposed school budget is $20.3 million, a $581,216 increase from the current $19.7 school budget.

The proposed school budget figure is preliminary, according to officials, because the amount of funding schools will receive from the state is unknown.

Also unknown is whether revenue sharing to municipalities will be suspended.

At the 7 p.m. council meeting, councilors will consider spending $93,694 for a wide-area mower with a plow attachment, to be used at the city-owned Robert LaFleur Municipal Airport.

The council also will consider spending $152,650 for a 3,000-gallon aviation refueler, also for the airport.

Money for both items would come from a bond issue to be completed in 2013, according to the agenda.

Mayor Karen Heck is scheduled to read proclamations about April being proclaimed Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month, and about April 9 being designated Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service.
