CLINTON — Bobby Belanger, a 2010 graduate of Lawrence High School, recently was named one of 18 University of New England students that will travel to Quito, Ecuador, this month on a medical mission. He will leave on May 13.

Belanger, who is completing his junior year at UNE, is a pre-dental student majoring in medical diology and also is a dean’s list honors student. He will travel to Ecuador in conjunction with the University of New England, the International Medical Missions, or IMM for short, and United Planet, a nonprofit organization, according to a news release. The students will teach dental hygiene and assist doctors in several different clinics.

Because each student has to cover the cost of their own expenses, fundraising is ongoing. To make a donation, send a check to UNE, c/o Robert Belanger, 11 Hills Beach Road, UC Campus Box R037, Biddeford, ME 04005.
