LITCHFIELD — A teenage girl was injured Friday in a Buker Road crash that knocked out electricity in three communities.

Maine State Police Trooper Erin Ball said the 17-year-old was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver, Joshua Byras, 26, of Litchfield, was not hurt.

Ball said Byras was driving his Volkswagen Jetta north on Buker Road a little before 6:30 a.m. when the car went off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole. Ball said Byras was not paying attention to his driving.

The crash broke the pole, cutting off power to residents in Bowdoin, Litchfield and Sabattus for almost an hour and a half, said Central Maine Power Co. spokesman John Carroll. Electricity was restored by 7:42 a.m.

The crash rendered the Jetta a total loss, Ball said. She said charges in connection with the crash are pending.
