WATERVILLE — The Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA of Greater Waterville at the Alfond Youth Center will kick off its Annual Appeal with the Annual Appeal Awards Dinner, according to an Alfond Youth Center press release. The evening begins at 5 tonight with cocktail hour followed by a 6 p.m. opening musical performance and then dinner and awards. Performing during the show, for the first time, will be the Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA choir. The opening act will feature performances by the AYC’s Young American Dance Center and the After School Program. Special guest and keynote speaker Congresswoman Chellie Pingree.

The evening will celebrate the milestones reached by the Alfond Youth Center throughout the year.

The Alfond Youth Center will honor Craig “Renshi” Sargent, Maureen Morrison, Campbell’s Agway True Value/Brent Burger and Thomas College for their outstanding commitment to youth with the Alfond Youth Center’s Inspirational Hall of Fame Awards.

Youth of the Year

Liza Stratton — Stratton is a Lawrence High School senior with a grade-point average of 94.6, ranked 13th in her class. She has taken college courses at Thomas College and Kennebec Valley Community College. Stratton has attended Camp Tracy and has been a member of the Karate program, the Dolphins swim team and gymnastics. She attended the Afterschool Program as a child and spent two years volunteering for the program. She is an employee of the After School Program and the Art Director at Camp Tracy.

Also being honored that evening for the Romeo & Martha Paganucci Volunteerism Award is Jeff Karter, Jean Mason, Meaghan Donnell and Steve Cilley.
