Waterville paving projects announced

WATERVILLE — Pavement upgrade projects for Drummond Avenue and Ticonic Street will commence in the next two weeks. Drummond Avenue will be reclaimed, involving grinding and reshaping of travel lanes and shoulders, and Ticonic Street will be planed and leveled, according to a news release. Both roads will be resurfaced with new pavement towards the end of June or early July. All work is weather dependent.

Annual seedling saleset for Saturday

FREEDOM — Village Farm of Freedom will celebrate spring and gardening with its annual seedling sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Certified organic seedlings will be on sale in the farmyard. Customers can choose from dozens of herbs, vegetables and flowers that are all tried and true varieties for high yields, vigor, flavor and nutrition.

I recently read the article “Maine police chiefs: Keep gun permit requirements.” In their tireless pursuit to keep us all safe, police sometimes cross the line. In doing so they are just doing their jobs, but it’s our jobs as citizens to tell them where the line is.

Police must start watching South Solon Road speeds

Please (county and state police) start watching South Solon Road. It is a narrow and curvy road frequented by speeders. You can park in my driveway, but it will be better if you park at the end of the end of Padham Road. If you want to catch speeders going at least 20 mph over the limit, you can snag them all day without stop. It’s likely that many of your catches will be for 30-plus offenses (or higher).
