PHILADELPHIA — Police have identified two men facing charges in a crash that killed a mother and three of her young sons on a 12-lane Philadelphia highway plagued by pedestrian deaths.

Police say 23-year-old Lancaster resident Khusen Akhmedov and 30-year-old Philadelphia resident Ahmen Holloman were arrested Wednesday. They face charges including homicide by vehicle, third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and other counts.

Investigators believe they may have been drag racing.

Relatives say 28-year-old Samara Banks and her sons were killed as they crossed the busy roadway around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday while walking home from an aunt’s home.

Police say Banks’ surviving 5-year-old son suffered only bumps and bruises.

Listed telephone numbers for the suspects couldn’t immediately be located. It wasn’t clear if they had attorneys.
