Cares, Inc., has announced the availability of its Assistive Technology Loan Program, which loans assistive technology equipment to people prior to buying it.

Assistive technology — devices that make life easier at work, school and home — varies from a walker or crutches, to a computer that types spoken words and more. The program gives people the opportunity to try different technology free of charge for 30 days.

The program, funded through a grant by the Department of Education’s Maine CITE Program, is available to residents of Androscoggin, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox and Lincoln counties.
