WILTON — Police say a Chesterville woman has died after her SUV collided with a logging truck in Wilton.

Investigators say the crash at the intersection of Routes 2 and 156 at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday took the life of 59-year-old Claire Trask. She was declared dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police it appeared that Trask ran a stop sign.

The truck flipped on its side and spilled its load of logs all over the highway, but the 37-year-old driver was unhurt.

Trask’s SUV was totaled.

The Wilton Board of Selectmen last week voted to ask the Maine Department of Transportation to hold a preliminary public hearing on their plans to improve the intersection, which has been the site of other accidents.
