WATERVILLE — Two men are facing felony charges in connection with the theft of three firearms, each of which cost about $500, police said.

Jordan Doolan, 19, a transient who lists his address as 2 Pico Terrace, was arrested around 1 p.m. Wednesday at the home of a relative on Elm Street on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking, said Detective Sgt. William Bonney, of the Waterville Police Department.

On Tuesday police also arrested Alexander Salvas, 18, of Winter Street, on a probation hold and charges of theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, Bonney said.

The two men allegedly stole a Glock 17-C, a Walther PPK S, and a Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun belonging to Matthew Simon, of Waterville, on Sept. 23, Bonney said.

The Glock 17-C has been found, but police still are looking for the other two guns, and the investigation remains open, he said. Theft of a firearm is a class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a $20,000 fine.

Salvas is scheduled to appear Nov. 12 in Kennebec County Superior Court in Augusta. Because he was arrested on a probation hold for a robbery charge, he is being held without bail at the Kennebec County jail, Bonney said.

Doolan also is being held at the jail, held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear Dec. 10 in Kennebec County Superior Court.

Anyone with information on the missing firearms is asked to call the Waterville Police Department at 680-4700.
