AUGUSTA — A local man drove his car off Bond Brook Road on Wednesday afternoon, suffering minor injuries and breaking a utility pole.

The accident was reported at 3:18 p.m. after the driver, Ronald Poulin, 70, of Augusta, left the road about midway between Leighton Road and Mount Vernon Avenue, according to Augusta police Sgt. Christian Behr. Poulin was alone in the car.

Behr said Poulin was taken to the emergency room at MaineGeneral Medical Center in north Augusta for treatment of minor injuries suffered when an airbag in his sedan deployed.

Traffic on the road was reduced briefly to one lane and crews from Central Maine Power Co. were working to replace the pole, which the impact split in half, according to Behr. Electrical power in the area was not affected, he said.
