The Kennebec Valley Council of Governments will receive $70,000 to support economic development in Kennebec, Somerset and Waldo counties, U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King announced Wednesday.

The grant is one of four that total $280,000 from the Economic Development Administration. The money is designed to support the development and implementation of comprehensive economic development strategies, according to a news release from the senators.

The other groups that also received $70,000 are the Northern Maine Development Corp., the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments and Eastern Maine Development Corp.
