Augusta area residents took advantage of a beautiful weekend to get out and enjoy spring. Brad Bowden transplants zucchini and summer squash Sunday on his family’s farmland in North Whitefield. Bowden said he just loves breaking soil while planting in the spring. Dan O’Laughlin, left, and Nancy O’Laughlin transplant hostas Sunday along a stone wall at their West Gardiner farmhouse. The couple worked in the shade of a blossoming magnolia tree that adorns the lawn. Gloria Haley, right, watches her friend Wendy Seremet cast Sunday from a dock on Cobbossee Stream in Gardiner. The Gardiner neighbors decided to fish and dip their toes in the water together as temperatures rose above 70 degrees.
But as they say, if you don’t like the weather in Maine, wait a minute. While Monday was also beautiful, the rest of the week is forecast to be gloomy and chilly.
