HAMPDEN — The National Resources Council of Maine will hold an event in Hampden in support of the creation of a national park east of Baxter State Park.

Cathy Johnson of the resources council will host the event at the Edythe L. Dyer Community Library on June 25. The event follows up on Elliotsville Plantation Inc.’s proposal to donate up to 150,000 acres to the federal government to create Maine’s second national park. The land is east of Baxter State Park, which includes Mount Katahdin, the state’s highest peak.

The event begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public. More information is available by emailing Eliza Donoghue at eliza@nrcm.org.
