Police found a woman who had been wandering in single digit temperatures in Carrabassett Valley Wednesday following a rollover accident.
Courtney Steeves, 36, of Salem Township, was driving south on Route 27 shortly before 2 a.m. when her car drifted onto a snowbank, rolled over and came to a stop on the roof. The 2013 Subaru Forester blocked the entrance to the Spring Farm neighborhood.
“She hit her head, had a small cut on her hand and was quite disoriented,” said Carrabassett Valley Police Chief Mark Lopez.
Lopez and other police officers, Carrabassett Valley Fire Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene after a passerby saw the overturned car.
Cpl. Nate Bean with police dog Diesel tracked Steeves down at a nearby house. The owners were taking care of her when she was found around 3:30 a.m., Lopez said.
Steeves was charged with operating under the influence and received a summons to appear in court.
