HALLOWELL — BRIO! a trio of singer/songwriters will take the stage at 8 p.m. Monday, March 23, at Slates Restaurant, Water St.

Deb Hensley, Matt Loosigian and Martin Swinger with special guest instrumentalist and songwriter, Ed Desjardins.

The trio has sung together for more than seven years — initially as 3/5ths of vocal improv quintet, ImproVox. As a trio, the songwriter/improv/vocalists have focused their musical energies towards the power of harmony and song. Blending Hensley’s background in early childhood education and transformative language arts, Loosigian’s family focused and ecologically minded songs and Swinger’s avocation as an arts educator and national award-winning songwriter, BRIO! dedicates their music to raising spirits, inspiring joy and promoting personal and ecological wellness.

BRIO!’s eclectic performance incorporates guitar, harp and percussion, though voices are their primary instruments. Vocal improvisation is seamlessly incorporated into their rehearsed songs and sometimes shines front and center with inventive moments of unplanned music in boldly daring movements of pure inspiration.

Tickets cost $15. For more information, call 626-0165.
