Hannaford Supermarkets is recalling some mixed nuts products because of potential salmonella contamination.
The nut mixes, Nature’s Place Roasted Unsalted Mixed Nuts and Nature’s Place Cranberry Mix, come in 9-ounce and 9.5-ounce packages, according to a release from Hannaford Saturday afternoon.
The item numbers included in the recall are 725439 94507 and 725439 94563.
Hannaford’s supplier of the products, Aurora Products, was advised of a positive test result for salmonella in walnuts contained in the products. Customers are advised to discard the products and return the products to to any Hannaford store for a full refund.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and those with weakened immune systems. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
