An American Red Cross blood drive, dedicated to Arthur Bourget, longtime Gardiner resident, is planned for Monday, July 13, to celebrate the six-year anniversary of receiving his bone marrow transplant because of Leukemia.
This year Bourget, his wife, Sandy, and daughter Emma, will celebrate his health by hosting this blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 100 Spring St., in Gardiner. During his four-year battle with Leukemia, he received 28 lifesaving blood transfusions and 34 platelet transfusions, according to a news release from the American Red Cross.
“I will never be able to thank the Red Cross and the people who volunteer to give blood enough, they saved my life.” said Bourget in the release. “I organized this blood drive so those donors can put a face to a person who was saved by their unbelievable gift. I do it to say thank you and remind them that when they give blood they are saving lives.”
