MOUNT VERNON — As part of the Dr. Shaw Memorial Library’s Every Hero Has a Story (or a song), local musician Dan Simons will sing with young patrons, play his banjo and mandolin, and teach songs both sweet and fun at 4 p.m. Monday, July 27, according to a news release from the library.

Children are invited to come in costume of a favorite hero or book character.

The Fresh Ella’s Ice Cream truck also will visit the library.
