Like Father, Like Sons program set for Aug. 13

The Belgrade Historical Society will sponsor a program at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Maine Lakes Resource Center in Belgrade Lakes village. Linda Snow McLoon will present Like Father, Like Sons — The Burbank Family in the Revolutionary War, the story of how former Belgrade resident, Eleazer Burbank, and others in his family went off to fight the British so America could be a free and independent country, according to a news release from the society.

The illustrated lecture includes striking 18th century art and fascinating details of the Burbanks’ interaction with General George Washington and the British spy, Major John Andre. Admission charge is $5, members can attend for free.
