WATERVILLE — Cassidy’s Kids, Mount Merici Academy’s new service project, was unveiled at a dedication tree planting ceremony on the grounds of the Academy. Students, faculty, families and alumni gathered on Oct. 13 to introduce Cassidy’s Kids, a service program developed to honor the memory of Cassidy Charette, MMA class of 2010, who was killed in a hayride accident last year. Eighth-grade students at the academy have developed individual service projects to culminate their final year at MMA and to continue the spirit of Charette whose passion was service to others, according to a MMA news release.

“I was so proud and filled with emotion to be here today. With Randy and Colby, and many of Cassidy’s friends, I witnessed the first of many students who will continue to shine Cassidy’s light,” Monica Charette, Cassidy’s mother, said in the release.

Each eighth-grade student stood in front of a crowd of more than 100 people to state their senior service project.
