DAMARISCOTTA — The River Arts Gallery’s August show “The Maine Scene” will host a Sandy River Ramblers concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at 241 US Route 1 North.

The band specializes in songs about Maine. Stan Keach writes most of the original songs about Maine for the band. The Ramblers will play and sing many songs from their CD, “Cry of the Loon and other original songs about Maine.”

Some of the songs are serious treatments of historical events, like “Up on Little Round Top” (about the 20th of Maine’s critical role in the Battle of Gettysburg), while others are humorous.

Besides Keach, the Ramblers feature lead and harmony singing by Julie Davenport and 14-year-old Dana Reynolds, plus the virtuoso instrumental stylings of banjoist Bud Godsoe and young fiddler Finn Woodruff.

Admission will cost $10 for adults. Refreshments will be available.
