MANCHESTER — Katherine Cassidy will give a presentation about farming in Africa at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at the Manchester Grange, 953 Western Ave., U.S. Route 202.
Cassidy spent three weeks in Kenya in June and then three weeks in Uganda in August. She taught leadership skills to farmers while volunteering for Catholic Relief Services. She was participating in the USAID-funded Farmer to Farmer program which has matched American volunteers with farmers worldwide for more than 30 years.
Her talk will cover how other Maine residents, especially those with farming and small business skills, can become Farmer to Farmer volunteers.
Cassidy plans to return to Uganda in November.
