In addition, voters chose Jennifer Day for a council seat and Pia Holmes for the school board.

The $11.8 million budget was approved by a 3-to-1 margin.

The $20.65 million represented a less than 2 percent increase over last year's, aggravated by declining state subsidies.

In Monmouth, residents voted 194-175 to repeal the limit of five grown dogs that residents are allowed to keep as pets.

Voters cast their ballots for or against proposed school budgets for SAD 54, SAD 13, RSU 74, SAD 49, RSU 18, Vassalboro Community School, Winslow schools and RSU 3.

It was a four-way, write-in, race for the Augusta Board of Education, among Pia Holmes, Kevin Lamoreau, Roger Mackbach and Holly Kiidli.
