Swine and Stein is planned for Saturday, Oct. 7, on Water Street in Gardiner. The festival is Gardiner Main Street’s eccentric version of a traditional Oktoberfest.

The 8th annual event includes an oompah band as well as pork, and other creative culinary dishes, a wide selection of Maine craft beers, and entertainment from some of Maine’s best musicians.

Festivities will begin at 11:30 a.m. and run through 6:30 p.m. Restaurants and street vendors from across the state will serve an array of pork-driven dishes.

Other activities will include a frozen T-shirt race, and the annual Maine rock, paper, scissors championship. The annual beard and moustache competition will return for its fourth year.

Discount tickets are on sale at the following local merchants and sponsors: The Depot Sports Pub, Reny’s, Craft Beer Cellar, Emery’s Meat & Produce, Gardiner Food Co-op, Monkitree, Niche Inc., Camden National Bank, Mainiac Brewing & Supply or visit gardinermainstreet.org.
