A group for expecting parents has been getting together from the time the expectant mothers were about three to four months pregnant. Recently six families gathered for the babies’ first birthdays.

MaineGeneral Obstetrics & Gynecology offers a group pregnancy class called Centering, that runs from about three-plus months to the birth month; this groups month was August.

The group took parenting classes, talked about doctors appointments and attended, what one might call, group therapy.

After that, the group decided to meet a month later to check on each other and help each other with new parenting challenges. The group has since been gathering as often as their schedules allow. The group recently gathered on a Sunday to celebrate the children’s first birthdays. The event took place in MaineGeneral’s cafeteria. The group’s midwife/teacher attended.
