Sen. Susan Collins is presently confronted with two, related, critical decision-making efforts. The first question is whether she will allow the Supreme Court nomination and voting process to move forward now before the November 2018 elections and, thereby, finance the Trump card, or whether she help postpone all of this until after the elections. The second is whether she will vote for the nominee himself.
Sen. Collins, Margaret Chase-Smith — one of your heroines — is sitting on one of your shoulders, and Mitch McConnell on the other. Which way are you leaning?
Collins is an American first, a religious and moral Maine woman second, and a (hopefully non-Trumpian) Republican last. The choice is hers — I hope she will make America, and Maine, proud.
