Bald Hill will perform as part of “Music for Mavis” Tuesdays at the Gazebo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, in Turner.

The New Gloucester-based Bald Hill is known for its unique brand of blues-inflected newgrass, folk rock, old country and Americana. Formed in 2015, the band’s core collaborators (and their predilection for classic bluegrass) go back another decade. The intervening years brought evolution — fashioned by additional voices and different instrumentations — but the band’s sound and tastes have remained subtly antique and thoroughly eclectic. Today Bald Hill’s original tunes are sprinkled in amid bluegrass standards, the neo-Appalachian songwriting of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, the vintage country of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, the bluesy folk rock of Richard Thompson and Lucinda Williams, the alt country of Son Volt and Wilco, and the classic rock of The Beatles, Neil Young and The Grateful Dead.

We pass the hat to pay the musicians. Suggested donation is $5-$10. The venue is not subsidized by the town – it is supported by the patron music-lovers. Bring a chair, bring a blanket, bring an umbrella, bring a friend. For more information, call (207) 754-0954.
