The rising costs of health care and prescription drugs are undeniably obscene. Medications and medical procedures, which are essential for the survival of ourselves, our family, friends and neighbors should not be out of financial reach. We should not be forced to incur thousands of dollars of debt or increase credit limits on credit cards to cover these costs.

I hope our lawmakers will take action this year and vote to help Mainers from constantly being put in these unfortunate situations. We need to prevent price gouging and address high, out-of-control prescription drug costs. I urge lawmakers to support the “Making Health Care Work For Maine” bill package that will help protect Mainers, not drug company profits. We need to make a change.
