DENMARK — Young people ages 8 to 14 are invited to a free music camp, Junk Funk Music Camp, with chart topping songwriter Luke Concannon, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, July 14-16, at the Denmark Arts Center, 50 West Main St. Those who attend can play with singing, percussion, and the enthusiasm in the group to create songs, dances, instruments and have a lot of fun.

Junk Funk Music Camp, hosted by Denmark Arts Center, has been invited to create a piece of music together that will be performed for the local community to celebrate Maine’s bicentennial asking, ‘What do we love about our home place — Maine, The Way Life Should Be.’

“My vision is for us to make a great communal music piece which we can video and perform as an opening to Friday night’s After Dinner Music performance,” said Concannon, according to a news release from the arts center.

Please bring appropriate clothing for being outside throughout camp. Camps will be held outside, rain or shine (raincoat, an extra layer, good footwear). Plenty of breaks for snacks and water will be taken. Make sure to bring those snacks, water, and a lunch, plus sunscreen and bug spray.

This camp will fill up fast so register online at denmarkarts.org.

Because of the generosity Kendal C. & Anna Ham Charitable Foundation, Maine Bicentennial Commission, Davis Family Foundation, and Town of Denmark 2021 camps are free.
