I’m writing to apologize to the Augusta City Council. After reading Courtney Allen’s campaign material, I thought this would be someone who would help the people of Augusta. I didn’t think she would promote racist and sexist ideology.

I was wrong, as she showed when she supported hate speech from Rep. Charlotte Warren (“Protests take aim at Hallowell’s state Rep. Charlotte Warren after social media post,” July 20).

That was my mistake that I will not repeat. To all the straight white men in Augusta, prove her wrong and vote her out when her term expires. No more political hate speech.
