Deregulation has to be the worst thing that has ever happened to our power grid. I’m amazed at the sheer amount of disinformation there is out there. Misinformed individuals repeat the age-old falsehood that private industry does it better than government. They can sling that bull all they want but it doesn’t make it true. Anyone alive and not comatose in the 1960s or ’70s, like myself, knows that when utilities were public, we had efficient and affordable power. The blame lies squarely with politicians, corrupted by big money, who have allowed the financial sector to pillage our utilities and gouge the public.

Enough is enough. We need to take our utilities back. Our electric bills are out of control because we are being forced to contribute to already obscene CEO salaries, shareholders, hedge fund investors, and even foreign corporations.

I will be voting for Pine Tree Power, a consumer-owned and -run utility company. It’s time to tell the bloodsuckers of Wall Street to take a hike.
