At the Hallowell Candidates Night meeting Oct. 19 I was blind-sided by how the municipal leaders had rigged discussion to stifle public comment. First of all, the public was not allowed to speak; we could only submit written questions to a moderator who selected and read questions.
Secondly, I had hoped to point out that I have not heard council members and candidates express any concern for poor and moderate income residents. The council has grandiose ideas that if implemented will drive those residents out, making Hallowell a playground for the rich.
