The USS Augusta was recently commissioned in Eastport, bearing the name of Maine’s capital city. Too bad it didn’t have wheels.
The public transportation situation in Augusta is, in a word, nonexistent. Many who relied on the recently demised bus are now trapped and without much recourse for mobility, independence and freedom. Is this really the 21st century? Even taxi service is unreliable and scant.
Winter is coming and even more will be in need of some means to obtain necessary daily goods. The state-of-the-art police station belies the actuality of what the city actually is: ignorant and uncaring about its neediest citizens. I guess criminals come before them.
