My wife and I love our electric vehicle. It’s quiet, reliable, and more fun to drive. Its major problem? It gets just as dirty in winter!
A program called Advanced Clean Cars II is currently being considered that would expand consumer choices, with more models of zero-emission cars and trucks each year, saving money for us drivers, because EVs cost much less to fuel and maintain than gas-powered cars.
EVs on Maine roads have tripled since 2020, and, though most charging takes place at home, I’ve seen more and more at charging stations. The goal now is to make sure that everyone who wants one can get one, which is what this program would do.
EVs are a wonderful invention, and improvements keep coming. I urge the Board of Environmental Protection to adopt this rule, as 13 other states have already done.
