Suspect in chase tried to set dog on fire with tequila

SKOWHEGAN — A Connecticut man who was a suspect in a Skowhegan shooting incident and a lengthy police chase in 2020 was indicted on a new charge last month for allegedly trying to set a dog on fire using tequila.

Christopher T. Farrow, 35, was indicted on one count of Class B attempted arson for a September 2020 incident in which he is accused of pouring “tequila over a dog, a dog bed, and the rug and using a lighter tried to ignite the dog and the rug,” the indictment says.

A Somerset County grand jury handed down the superseding indictment when it met April 18, according to court records.

In connection with the same September 2020 incident in Skowhegan, Farrow was indicted in 2021 on charges of Class C criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, Class C terrorizing with a dangerous weapon and Class C reckless conduct with a firearm, records show. The new indictment last month did not change those charges.

Farrow allegedly used a firearm in that incident. Police said at the time nobody was hurt.

In October 2020, Farrow and Dayshawn Middleton were identified as suspects in a high-speed chase across central Maine.

The chase began in Waterville during a traffic stop in which both were identified for questioning in connection with the Skowhegan incident. It ended when police ran the vehicle Farrow and Middleton were in off the road in Richmond.

The pair were believed to have fled on foot, which led police to conduct an extensive search of the Richmond and Litchfield areas.

Weeks later, Middleton was arrested in Bronx, New York, on a warrant out of Connecticut.

Farrow, who police said at the time was armed and dangerous, was arrested in South Burlington, Vermont, in March 2021 after a high-speed chase, a Vermont media outlet reported. Farrow also was facing charges out of Connecticut.

Farrow quickly posted bail in Vermont, but a warrant was issued for his arrest after failing to appear in court.

It is unclear based on Maine court records and media reports when and where Farrow was arrested again.

Connecticut Department of Correction online records show that Farrow began serving a four-year prison term in that state in 2022. His last known address listed in Maine court papers is a correctional facility in Cheshire, Connecticut.

Farrow is currently being held at the Somerset County Jail in East Madison with cash bail set at $100,000, according to court and jail records.

Court records do not show much activity in Farrow’s case in Maine after the original 2021 indictment.

But in March his attorney, Allan Lobozzo of Lobozzo Law in Brunswick, filed a motion for a speedy trial. The next month, the grand jury handed down the new indictment.

“The case is based on a ‘poker game gone bad,’” Lobozzo wrote in the motion. “The state’s only proof is based on the players at the poker game. All said players are either criminals, fugitives, liars, or all three. Their availability and testimony is suspect.”

An indictment is not a determination of guilt but indicates enough evidence exists for a case to move forward to trial.
