Winslow’s annual Blueberry Festival is planned from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, to Winslow Congregational Church, 12 Lithgow St. Admission to the festival grounds is free.
Nearly 700 blueberry pies and “all things blueberry” baked goods will be available for sale. Blueberry pies ($15 each or two for $25) may be picked up at the church anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. the previous evening (Friday, Aug. 9) or between 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out on the day of the festival, according to a news release from David Deas, festival chair.
Kicking off the festival will be a Blueberry Pancake Breakfast, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday. Breakfast will cost $7 per person and $5 for children 12 and younger, at the door.
In addition to the “all things blueberry” pies and other baked goods, festival patrons can enjoy live music outdoors, an inside-the-church organ concert by Josh Bickford, a big gift cards raffle, a lobster raffle and more.
Also, the night before the festival, a chicken barbecue take-out supper will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at the church. The supper will include a lobster dinner raffle and live music.
Proceeds will benefit for Winslow Community Cupboard Food Pantry.
The cost is a $15 donation. For tickets, call 207-616-0076.
Since 1972, the Blueberry Festival has raised funds to empower the local humanitarian/Christian-service work of Winslow Congregational Church. Celebrating its 196th birthday this year, the historic church is housed in a building dating from 1796, which has been home to a worshipping congregation since 1828.
