Zach Kokoska’s two-run homer capped a three-run second inning that carried the Hartford Yard Goats to a 4-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game Saturday night in Hartford, Connecticut.
The Sea Dogs grabbed a 1-0 lead just two batters into the game. Ahbram Liendo led off with a single, stole second and scored on a Ronald Rosario single.
Hartford, though, answered an inning later. GJ Hill tied the game with an RBI triple off David Sandlin, and Kokoska followed with a drive to right-center for his first home run of the season.
Sandlin (1-1) lasted four innings, giving up seven hits and four runs, with four strikeouts and one walk.
Tyler Miller cut Portland’s deficit to 3-2 with a home run in the fourth, but the Sea Dogs produced just one base runner over the final five innings.
