NORRIDGEWOCK — A Norridgewock man suffered serious injuries when his motorcycle crashed Wednesday evening, according to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders were called to the crash on Walker Road in Norridgewock around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell said.
The rider, Jody Davis, 51, was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan and then flown by LifeFlight of Maine helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, said Mitchell, relaying information from Sgt. Mathew Cunningham.
Davis’ injuries were classified as “serious” and included head injuries, Mitchell said. Davis, who was not wearing a helmet, was alert and conscious at the scene, according to Mitchell.
No other vehicles were involved, Mitchell said. An initial investigation determined Davis veered off the road into trees and was then thrown from the 2003 Yamaha bike he was riding.
The initial investigation indicated speed was a factor, Mitchell said.
Deputy Greg Sides is assigned as the primary investigator.
