Cheeses from three Maine producers won medals recently at the 2025 World Cheese Awards, including a Super Gold for Crooked Face Creamery in Skowhegan.

Crooked Face earned the top-designated award for its Plain Whole Milk Ricotta. Lakin’s Gorges Cheese from Waldoboro won a Silver medal for its aged, semi-firm cheese, Opus 42, while Josh Pond Farm in Whiting won a Bronze medal for its hard, Alpine-style Meddybemps cheese.

Crooked Face Creamery also won a Bronze medal for its Applewood-Smoked Ricotta.

The World Cheese Awards were held Nov. 13 in Bern, Switzerland. This is the first time in the event’s 37-year history that more than 5,000 cheeses have been submitted for consideration. Only 110 cheeses won Super Gold awards.
