Au’Diese Toney drove for a go-ahead layup with 13.4 seconds remaining, lifting the Noblesville Boom to a 123-122 win over the Maine Celtics in an NBA G League game Wednesday afternoon at the Portland Expo.
Toney’s basket spoiled a last-gasp comeback by the Celtics, who trailed 121-114 with a minute to go after being held to 15 points through the first 11 minutes of the final quarter. Ron Harper Jr. capped an 8-0 run with a layup that gave Maine a 122-121 lead.
The Celtics had one final chance to get the win, but Max Shulga’s attempt at a driving layup was no good, and Amari Williams couldn’t tip in the rebound.
Harper made 10 of 16 3-pointers and finished with 36 points. Shulga had 21 points and 14 assists, Stefan Todorovic scored 22 points on 8-for-10 shooting, and Williams posted a triple-double with 12 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists.
Kyle Guy led the Boom with 39 points and 14 assists.
