SKOWHEGAN — A flood warning for the Kennebec River at Skowhegan has been issued by the National Weather Service, in effect from Saturday afternoon until Monday morning.
A flood watch for Franklin County towns, including Farmington, Wilton, Rangeley and Kingfield, was also issued, expiring at 8 a.m. Sunday.
At noon Saturday, the Kennebec River’s flow was 32,000 cubic feet per second at Skowhegan; flood flow is 35,000 cfs. Minor flooding is expected to begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, the service said. The river is expected to crest near 44,410 cfs by 8 a.m. Sunday and fall below flood stage Monday morning.
