Singer/songwriter Dave Mallett plans to be at the Maine Academy of Natural Sciences Summer Celebration on Sunday, June 26, where he will perform and formally designate the Garden Song as the school song, at the 13 Easler Drive academy in Hinckley.
The celebration will run from 1 to 4 p.m. with Mallett playing at 2 p.m. There will be wood fired pizza, lawn games and garden tours, according to a news release from the academy.
“Last year was a booming success, and with Dave Mallett coming this year, we hope to draw an even bigger crowd to join in our celebration,” said Grace Hilmer, community outreach coordinator. “It’s a really fun and welcoming event.”
The event is free and open to the public.
For more information, contact Hilmer at 207-238-4110 between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., or at [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
