BUCKFIELD — The Pine Tree Trail Riders, during its annual gathering Sept. 24-25, presented a $1,000 donation to the Sumner Bicentennial Scholarship Fund in memory of Donnie Richardson, a Sumner resident who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year.
The scholarship fund provides scholarships to residents of Sumner who wish to pursue educational goals.
Pine Tree Trail Riders, the oldest ATV club in Maine, draws membership from Auburn and Minot, as well as Oxford, Norway, Buckfield, Sumner, and other western Maine towns, according to a news release from member Beth Maddaus.
The 50-60 members of the club ride the trails of the Buckfield/Sumner area on dirt bikes.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
