Addison Verrill of Pittsfield, a senior at Maine Central Institute, has received the 2024 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“As I routinely visit Maine Central Institute theatre productions, music festivals, Model United Nation conferences, athletic meets, student panels, themed dinners, clubs, activities, and classes — in fact the whole panoply of independent school life — one gets a true snapshot of student involvement in all that we offer, and one of the most committed and engaged students at MCI is our 2024 valedictorian, Addison Kendall Verrill,” said Head of School David Pearson, according to a news release from the institute.
Verrill, Pearson, and other award winners and their principals attended an honors luncheon in April at Jeff’s Catering.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
