    We need to support new carbon dioxide standards

    No answers for questions about China Lake Park

    I am a concerned senior citizen in my 80s. I was born, raised and lived all my life in the town of China. I graduated from Erskine Academy, raised our family of five, had 11 grandchildren, 10 of whom graduated from Erskine. My husband and I owned and operated three different businesses and worked hard to pay our taxes.

    Shutdown causes more effects than visible ones

    "Most Mainers unaffected by shutdown, unless you're a federal employee," states the headline of the Kevin Miller article in the Oct. 1 newspaper. Sounds hopeful, doesn't it? If we read the article, however, we find that there is a lot more harm done than just to a few federal employees.

    Republicans hypocritical with expressions of concern
