SAD 53 kindergarten registration planned
PITTSFIELD -- School Administrative District 53, Burnham, Pittsfield and Detroit, kindergarten registration for the 2012-13 school year will begin Tuesday, Feb. 7. Children must be five years old on or before Oct. 15, 2012, in order to start school in the fall. For screening information, call Manson Park School at 487-2281 by Friday, March 30. Screening will be Friday, April 27, at Manson Park School.

Clinton dog licensedeadline is today
CLINTON -- Dogs must be licensed today. A current rabies certificate is needed at the time of registration. Fees are $6 for neutered/spayed dogs and $11 for unaltered dogs. Effective Feb. 1, a $25 late fee will be assessed in addition to the 2012 license fee.

Free tax return preparation available
WATERVILLE -- The AARP Tax-Aide program will provide free federal and state income tax preparation and free electronic filing to low- and moderate-income individuals. Taxpayers of any age can use this service with special attention given to those 60 and older. Returns are prepared by IRS certified volunteers.

Free living well class offered in Belgrade
BELGRADE -- Belgrade Regional Health Center will offer a living well seminar beginning in February. The series will focus on self-management of chronic conditions by creating an interactive environment. Participants will discuss coping and relaxation techniques and participate in brainstorming activities with trained co-leaders.

Chordsmen to perform singing valentines
For those looking for something different for their valentine, a barbershop quartet of the Kennebec Valley Chordsmen can be hired to perform a singing valentine at a home or workplace or any chosen location in Kennebec or Somerset counties from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, or during the day Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 13 and 14. A red rose and a personal card will also be provided. The service costs $35.
