WATERVILLE — Two men are facing felony drug charges after police found an estimated $8,500 worth of cocaine in their vehicle.

Justin James Lacroix, 24, of 77 Elm St., and Jesse James Jones, 23, of 2 Poolers Park Way, were pulled over at about 8 p.m. Thursday on Drummond Avenue for driving without headlights on, said police Chief Joseph Massey.

Lacroix, the driver, was on a type of probation that requires police to search vehicles, Massey said. During the search, Officer Tristan Russell found 85 grams of cocaine in a console.

Cocaine has a street value of $85 to $100 per gram, Massey said.

Jones, the passenger, was also on probation.

Both men were arrested on charges of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs — a class C felony, which is punishable by up to five years of prison and $5,000 in fines — and held at Kennebec County jail.

They are scheduled to appear April 10 at Kennebec County Superior Court.
