Celebrate Springevent planned
AUGUSTA — The Friends of the Maine State Museum, will sponsor a fundraising event, “Celebrate Spring,” from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the Governor Hill Mansion, 136 State St. The event will feature a fashion show by Earthbound of Waterville and Hallowell, a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres by The Liberal Cup and a cash bar. WATERVILLE — Organizers of the Ladies Day Out Expo, along with area businesses, have come together to offer women a chance to win a makeover.
Sexual assault awareness events set
WATERVILLE — April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The theme this year is “YOUth Can Break The Silence.” The annual Take Back the Night event will start with an introduction by Donna Strickler, the executive director of the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center. There will be an open mic session and a candlelight vigil, followed by a march down Main Street, which will end at Barrel’s Community Market. A community forum will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Barrel’s. Topics will include: youth and violence, prevention, resources, and engaging youth. Refreshments will be provided.
Farmland Trust director to speak
AUGUSTA — The Kennebec Historical Society will present Maine Farmland Trust’s Executive Director John Piotti with a discussion on the state of farming and how farming can become the centerpiece of a sustainable future for Maine. This talk will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Augusta City Center Learning Gallery.
