COLLEGE FOOTBALL NOTEBOOK: Husson young on both sides of the ball

This is the last season the New England Football Conference will be divided into two divisions, the Bogan and Boyd. Beginning with the 2013 season, eight schools currently in the NEFC — Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Westfield State University, Worcester State University, Plymouth State University and UMass Dartmouth — will break off and play in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference.

KINGFIELD — Tickets are on sale for the third Guest Chef Night of 2012 at Maine Huts & Trails. The event will be Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Flagstaff Hut and feature the culinary expertise of Chef David Turin of David’s Monument Square in Portland and David’s 388 in South Portland. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres, dinner is set for 6 p.m.

Poirier celebrates 100th birthday

Mary L. Poirier recently celebrated her 100th birthday at the home of her daughter Norma Fitzherbert and Gary Benoit in West Gardiner. She was Sept. 9, 1912. Also attending was her daughter Ginny Gallant and husband Bob of Old Town.
