Portland police are investigating the discovery of a woman’s body that washed up on shore near Fort Allen Park on the city’s East End.
The body of the woman, who appears to have been in her 50s, was discovered about 6 a.m. Friday by someone walking on the East End walking path a short distance from the Portland Company complex at 58 Fore St.
Her death does not appear to be suspicious, police said, but they have not yet identified her.
Police described the woman as Asian, with a thin build and dark hair, wearing a blue denim jacket and teal-colored jeans.Police asked that anyone with information about her identity call 874-8575.
The case is being investigated by Portland police and by the state Medical Examiner’s Office, which is charged with determining the cause and manner of the woman’s death.
